How it works
Add the PDF you want to number.
Choose where the number should sit on the page.
Select Add numbers and review. Each page is stamped with its number and the total, for example 3 / 12, then the file opens for review. Download or share it when ready.
Limits
Browser-local. Numbers are drawn as 'page / total' with a standard font. Beta limits: desktop up to 40 MB and 400 pages; mobile devices up to 15 MB and 150 pages. Password-protected PDFs are not supported.
Common questions
Is my document kept private when I add page numbers?
Yes, your document's privacy is fully protected. The process of adding page numbers runs entirely in your browser. Your file is never uploaded to a server and remains on your device.
Can I choose where the page numbers appear?
Yes, you can choose the position of the page numbers. The tool provides options to place them in the header or footer, and you can align them to the left, center, or right of the page.
Can I add page numbers to a document longer than 25 pages?
The free tool allows you to add page numbers to a single PDF up to 25 pages long. To work with longer documents, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan, which removes the page limit.
Can I format the page numbers, like 'Page 1 of 10'?
The tool adds simple numerical page numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.). It does not currently support more complex formatting like 'Page X of Y' or custom text alongside the numbers.
