How it works
Open the PDF.
Add text, freehand drawing, highlights or boxes; use Undo/Redo and page controls.
Select Save annotated PDF to download.
Limits
Converted locally on your device. Your file is never uploaded to SumoPDF, and SumoPDF does not receive or store its contents. This ADDS text and markup on top of the page; it does NOT edit the existing text of the PDF. Beta limits: desktop up to 40 MB and 400 pages; mobile up to 15 MB and 150 pages. Password-protected PDFs are not supported.
Common questions
Are my annotations and comments on a PDF private?
Yes, all annotations and comments you add are completely private. The tool works entirely inside your browser, so your PDF and the changes you make are never uploaded to a server.
Can I add a text box anywhere on the page?
Yes, you can add a text box and type anywhere on a PDF page. Simply select the text tool, click where you want to add text, and start typing. You can also move and resize the text box after you create it.
Are the annotations I add permanent?
The annotations are saved as part of the new PDF file you download. While they can be edited or removed later using another PDF editor, they become a standard part of the document visible to anyone who opens it.
Can I highlight text in a scanned document?
You can use the free-draw highlighter tool to mark up a scanned document as if you were using a real marker. To highlight the actual text so it can be copied, the PDF must first have a text layer, which you can add using an OCR tool.
