How to verify a PDF tool processes files locally

You can confirm a browser PDF tool never uploads your file by watching your browser's Network tab while you run it, or by going offline after the page loads and seeing the tool still work.

Method 1: watch the Network tab

VERIFIED Open developer tools, select the Network tab, clear the list, then run the tool with a test file. A browser-local tool loads the page and its assets but makes no request that uploads your document. A tool that uploads shows a large POST or PUT carrying your file.

Method 2: go offline

VERIFIED After the page has fully loaded, disconnect from the internet and run the tool. A truly browser-local tool still works offline; a tool that uploads fails.

What local should and should not mean

PROPOSED Local should mean the document is processed on your device and is not sent to the tool's servers. It does not automatically mean the page loads no third-party code or keeps no visit logs. Check each tool.
