How it works
Add the PDF you want to convert.
Select Convert and review.
An editable .docx opens for review. Download or share it when ready, then open it in Word, Google Docs, or Pages.
Limits
Browser-local. Rebuilds the PDF's text as an editable Word document, recovering headings, lists, and paragraphs; simple, clearly-aligned tables may be recovered, but general table reconstruction is not guaranteed. It is a content-focused re-flow, not a pixel-perfect copy: complex layouts, columns, and images may shift, and scanned (image-only) PDFs need OCR first. Beta limits: desktop up to 40 MB and 400 pages; mobile devices up to 15 MB and 150 pages. Password-protected PDFs are not supported.
Common questions
Is it secure to convert a confidential PDF to a Word document?
Yes, the conversion process is secure and private. Your PDF is processed entirely within your browser and is never uploaded to a server. Your confidential data remains on your own computer.
How accurate is the PDF to Word conversion?
The tool attempts to recreate the original layout, text, and images in an editable Word (.docx) file. The accuracy can vary depending on the complexity of the PDF's formatting. Simple text documents convert very well.
Can I convert a scanned PDF to an editable Word file?
To convert a scanned (image-based) PDF, you must first use an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) tool. OCR will create a text layer that can then be converted to Word. Our paid plan includes unlimited OCR and Office conversions.
Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can convert?
The free service allows you to convert one PDF at a time, up to 25 pages. For unlimited conversions and documents longer than 25 pages, a paid subscription is required.
